Jury comment
The jury was extremely impressed by Studio Shand’s interdisciplinary approach and the practice’s passion for combining objects, interiors and architecture into cohesive design outcomes. Established in 2020 by Benjamin Jay Shand, who studied architecture at the University of Sydney, the studio’s portfolio spans residential and commercial projects, as well as object design and sculpture. Despite only being in practice for four years, Studio Shand already has a strong identity and clear vision, which is very exciting. The jury unanimously agreed the practice has an extremely bright future.
Practice profile
Studio Shand is an Australian architecture, object and art studio that practices an integrated approach to design and its realisation though essential materials, geometries and tectonics. Across these fields, the team has realised a cohesive body of work demonstrating fine-grain detailing and quirk born from a love of making.
