2025 Toyota 4Runner Gets Stylish and Menacing ‘Black Edition,’ Albeit Only Digitally

Yep, there is one automaker that has a cadence of releasing new models into the (American) wild like a tidal wave of the automotive industry, and that’s probably Toyota. However, not even them can churn out new models like hamsters, so they’re sometimes helped by the parallel universes of vehicular CGI.
The Japanese carmaker has already updated to 2025 model year specifications the big $41,440 Crown crossover-sedan, the little $23,505 Corolla Hatchback, the all-new $28,400 Camry – which is exclusively hybrid now, finally released the 2024 Tacoma i-Force Max to dealerships, and prepares to welcome the 2025 Toyota Crown Signia as the successor to the affordable and likable $35k Venza hybrid mid-size crossover SUV, plus the 2025 4Runner all-rounder off-road SUV.

Naturally, if you ask 4×4 enthusiasts, the most important release of the year is the 4Runner, of course. However, since it’s currently on the ‘upcoming vehicles’ tab, there are some details that are still a mystery – like pricing and if there’s any welcoming special edition to help customers get acquainted with the sixth generation. No worries, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators has come up with a cool idea – the good folks over at the AutoYa info channel on YouTube have unofficially imagined the CGI looks of the unannounced and unofficial 2025 Toyota 4Runner ‘Black Edition.’

It could proudly sit alongside the nine official grades (SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Sport Premium, TRD Off Road, TRD Off Road Premium, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Trailhunter) as a welcoming party committee – Toyota usually creates a ritzy and dark model, but the Nightshade traditionally comes during the second or third model year of a new generation. Here, the channel’s host and the resident pixel master think a 4Runner ‘Black Edition‘ could easily stand next to the flagship Limited variant as another ritzy option, just like the all-new Trailhunter sits next to TRD Pro as another adventurer.

This is not the first time this venue has imagined a ‘Black Edition’ for upcoming popular models – they have opted for the transformation of the 2025 Infiniti QX80, Ford Explorer, and Toyota Land Cruiser, among many others. Traditionally, it’s not just an all-black model – enthusiasts could hypothetically marry the black trim package with other colors, some of which may never appear in the real world. Additionally, the renderings also depict subtle interior changes to make sure this creation feels entirely complete – even if it only dwells around imagination land.

So, what do you think? Would Toyota fare even better with the 2024 4Runner off-roader if they added this digital ‘Black Edition’ creation to the roster? Or are those nine grades more than enough choice for anyone, and then some? Give us your thoughts in the comments section.
