AbbaCare Pregnancy Resource Center cuts ribbon at new location

MARTINSBURG — AbbaCare Pregnancy Center moved into its new location at 1789 Delmar Orchard Road in February but held the official ribbon cutting at the center Monday.

Several of the nine board members were present to welcome community members and guests to tour the facility and share in the celebration.

Nikki Morelli, executive director, previously told The Journal that the AbbaCare Pregnancy Resource Center was formed when a group of community business leaders came together in 1988 in Winchester to provide a place for women to go where they could get information regarding all possibilities about pregnancy, as well as to find encouragement and resources.

AbbaCare has expanded over the years, with a location opening in Martinsburg on South Raleigh Street. It now has this new location that has allowed for an expansion of space to offer services to those in need. Among those services, women can receive pregnancy testing and options counseling, diagnostic ultrasounds, sexual health information and referrals and other resources and support.

“We love it,” Morelli said of the new space, as several board members gave tours of the facility during the open house. “We’re here to serve the community,” she added, sharing that AbbaCare Pregnancy Resource Center is the only life-affirming medical pregnancy center in the Eastern Panhandle.

“We want to be here for women with unplanned pregnancies to give all the information they need to make informed decisions,” Morelli continued, as she stressed that she wanted to make sure that people are aware that the services offered are at no cost.

Currently. the Martinsburg office is open two days a week, Tuesday and Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are required and can be made by calling AbbaCare or visiting its website at abbacare.org.
