acne studios’ signature flamed pink granite envelops beijing sanlitun flagship store
halleroed revamps acne studios’ beijing flagship
Acne Studios has reopened its Beijing Sanlitun flagship store, enveloping its facade and interior surfaces in flamed, pink granite stone – hallmarks of the brand’s signature aesthetic. Led by Swedish firm Halleroed, the design reimagines the retail experience with an immersive new look and an expansion. Playful and inviting while evoking the geometries of the site, the elevation is marked with large, glazed openings that subtly resemble a face, while inside, a pink granite-clad staircases and flooring enhance cohesive fluidity.

the design concept stems from the fashion house’s identity
Across the second floor, a warm grey carpet marked with a geometric pattern evokes the look of concrete outdoor paving tiles, infusing a distinct textural element that complements the granite. Modular display cabinets made of glass with pink anodized metal and natural silver-colored frames line the white walls. These cabinets are a signature design element, developed exclusively for Acne Studios by Creative Director Jonny Johansson in collaboration with architect Christian Halleroed.
Rows of spotlights designed by Benoit Lalloz illuminate the store, while bespoke furniture pieces created by British designer Max Lamb introduce a striking contrast of materials and colors, including a warm grey wool and sleek black leather. The addition of mannequins by artist Daniel Silver further enhances the store’s curated, contemporary character.
