AKMU marks 10th anniversary of debut with heartfelt acts of kindness

In honor of their 10th debut anniversary, AKMU showcased their commitment to philanthropy by making substantial donations totaling 141 million won. As revealed by YG Entertainment on April 23 KST, the talented duo allocated the funds to Pureun Asia, Severance Hospital, and the Korea Youth Counseling and Welfare Development Institute. Each organization received 47 million won, symbolizing the significance of AKMU’s debut date, April 7.

The generous contributions will serve various social causes, including the establishment of the ‘AKMU Love Forest’ to combat climate change and prevent desertification in Mongolia. Additionally, support will be provided for low-income patients facing severe and incurable illnesses, as well as psychological assistance for isolated youth struggling to reintegrate into society. The donations also aim to facilitate interpersonal relationship enhancement programs.

AKMU’s deep connection to Mongolia, where they spent their childhood, influenced the decision to allocate funds to projects benefiting the region. Their sincere commitment to assisting youth facing societal challenges underscores their genuine desire to give back.

Since their debut in 2014, AKMU has been actively involved in philanthropy, organizing events such as a night performance to support heart disease patients at Severance Hospital in 2013. The duo’s recent national tour, ‘AKMUTOPIA’, not only entertained audiences but also provided cultural experiences and emotional support to 110 young individuals preparing for self-reliance.

Continuing their tradition of altruism, AKMU has visited Seoul National University Children’s Hospital to hold small concerts for sick children and made surprise appearances at Suncheon Orphanage to perform for the children.

Amidst their philanthropic endeavors, AKMU unveiled their 10th anniversary project, introducing the official fandom name ‘AKKADEMY‘. They are set to celebrate this milestone with the ‘2024 AKMU 10th Anniversary Concert at KSPO DOME on June 15 and 16.
