Buying a yacht must feel like a great accomplishment for successful people. It is a significant milestone for anyone wealthy enough to afford one, and it’s no wonder modern owners want bespoke yachts built in a way that reflects their own needs, preferences, and shifting priorities.

Lately, the yachting industry has been increasingly focusing on offering yachtsmen diversity and customization opportunities, working closely with owners to bring their vision of the perfect recreational watercraft to life. Turkish shipbuilder Alia Yachts has adopted the same approach, and the latest creation coming out of their yard is a 148-foot (45-meter) full-custom cruiser called “SAN.”

Meticulously crafted to the owner’s ideal specifications, SAN is a stunning vessel that blends comfort with performance and modern elegance. Scheduled to make its international debut at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show this September, the all-aluminum motor yacht has successfully completed sea trials and is ready to be delivered to its owners later this month.

The vessel boasts exterior and interior styling by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, while naval architecture is signed off by Lateral Naval Architects. It stands out through a gracious, sleek exterior and a distinctive layout with generous exterior areas for special moments in the sun.

Built with a displacement hull, SAN features a low, predatory aluminum superstructure with a raised pilothouse, a plumb bow, and clean, straight lines that make it an imposing presence on the water, even though it’s not a large vessel.

A standout feature of this modern yacht is the fully open main deck that runs from the stern to the bow, highlighting the project’s focus on al-fresco living. Folding aft bulwarks add even more outdoor living space, enhancing the al fresco experience.

According to Paul Costerus, partner and lead designer at Sinot, the exterior decks have been adorned with multi-functional furniture for increased versatility. For instance, the dining table can be used for serving meals during the day and turn into a cocktail bar in the evening, while sunbathing areas easily transform into social spaces with intimate seating.

The raised pilothouse is another highlight of the design. It overlooks the yacht’s superstructure, which is covered in full-height glass facades. Coupled with a series of sliding doors, the extensive use of glazing creates a seamless transition between the indoors and outdoors on the vessel’s main deck, allowing owners to more deeply connect with the surrounding ocean. The pilothouse also has large wraparound windows that allow those onboard to enjoy panoramic views.

“San is a striking and innovative boat that highlights our strengths as a truly custom builder,” declared Gökhan Çelik, President of Alia Yachts. “It’s projects like this that attract the best clients from all over the world.”

With a gross tonnage of 370 GT, Alia’s latest yacht SAN offers generous living quarters with overnight accommodation for up to ten guests across four lavish staterooms and an owner’s master suite on the lower deck.

No images of the interiors have been revealed, but the living quarters have also been designed to reflect the owner’s personality and lifestyle, and the yard describes them as “minimalist and detail-oriented.”

In terms of power, SAN will be equipped with four Volvo Penta diesel engines, but details regarding its performance are still kept close to the chest. However, thanks to its premium aluminum construction and refined naval architecture, this custom yacht will surely take the owner and their guests on memorable sea experiences.
