Participants of the trend are required to follow a diet of their choice, fitness and wellness program without deviation for a consecutive 75 days.

During that time, aspirants must follow a structured diet without any cheat meals, drink 4 litres of water, forego alcohol and take a progress picture every day.

They must also complete two 45 minute workouts in a day, one of which must be outdoors, and read 10 pages of a non-fiction book – audiobooks are not allowed.

The program cannot be altered in any way to suite individual lifestyles, and progress resets to day one if any of the daily goals are missed at any point.

The 75 Hard challenge was developed in 2019 by supplement company CEO Andy Frisella, and has since been deemed unsafe and not sustainable by health experts

MailOnline spoke with health experts about how safe the extreme regime is earlier this year and why they wouldn’t recommend it.

Personal trainers and medical professionals alike agreed it is important to adopt consistent, healthy habits, but said 75 Hard was simply not sustainable.

They expressed concerns over the creator’s lack of qualifications as a dietician or trainer, as well as the injuries some may sustain without rest days between workouts.

There is also a high risk the rigidity of the challenge can ‘encourage obsessive behaviours and negative body image’ which ultimately impact one’s health.

However, the challenge is described by creator American entrepreneur and podcast host Frisella, as a ‘mental toughness test’.
