GAS. THE CALIFORNIA GAS TAX WILL BE GOING UP SOON. THE DEPARTMENT OF TAX AND FEE ADMINISTRATION SAYS THE GAS TAX WILL INCREASE ALMOST $0.02 STARTING IN JULY. THAT WILL PUT IT AT 59.6 CENTS PER GALLON. DIESEL FUEL WILL ALSO BE GOING UP BY 1.3 CENTS, AND THAT PUTS IT AT 45.4 CENTS PER GALLON. AIRCRAFT JET FUEL ALSO HAS A TAX RATE OF $0.02. THAT TAX IS NOT ADJUSTED ON A YEARLY BASIS. THE DIVISION OF PETROLEUM MARKET OVERSIGHT IS TALKING ABOUT THE RECENT RISE IN GAS PRICES, AND STAFF HAVE PUT TOGETHER DATA SHOWING WHAT MAKES UP THE PRICE PER GALLON OF FUEL. SO HERE, HERE, THAT DATA IS IT INCLUDES THE COST OF CRUDE OIL, STATE AND FEDERAL TAXES AND REFINERY COSTS AND PROFITS. AND THEY SAY OVER THE PAST MONTH, AVERAGE GAS PRICES HAVE GONE UP $0.44.
