Car show provides family-friendly fun on Sunday
A local car club Hakai No KamiGami played host to over 100 cars that showed up for their second annual event in Killeen on Sunday.
The event was held at the Special Events Center in Killeen.
“These events are family-friendly with no admission charge,” Paulamaria Odal said. She is one-half of the business that caters to auto enthusiasts of all types.
Paulamarie and her husband Joonee Odal, of Killeen, have an online business which caters to car enthusiasts of all kinds. According to their website, it’s so much more than a business, “it’s a family. We encourage camaraderie, shared experiences, and the exchange of knowledge and stories among our (club) members.”
The pair believe in changing the “face” of car clubs by including family-friendly activities and things for everyone, no matter the level of car enthusiast.
“This event is so much more than a traditional car meet,” Paulamaria said. With a VIP section inside the Special Events Center, other quality vehicles were set up to view in the parking lot adjacent to the building.
There were food vendors, craft and vehicle-themed gift items and a Festival De Le Lechonera Itasha with an EDM concert from 6 to 11 p.m. which closed out the night.
Billed as the place “where car devotees from every corner can converge, flaunt their jaw-dropping rides, and have an absolute blast.”
Eight-year-old Kent Simpson was eyeing the car with eyes—a 2023 Toyota GR Supra, designed by owner Dani Ruelas from Waco, the car is a tribute to “The Night Fury,”a medium-sized strike class dragon that first appeared in “How to Train Your Dragon.”
“This is so cool,” Simpson said. “I also like the Bluey car.”
Whatever the preference, there were plenty of beauties to see at the car show.
The Odals said their love of cars is something that they enjoy and judging by their enthusiasm, it’s going to be a huge family of friends and other events.
