WESTPORT — The new Delamar Westport hotel may be rising on the site once home to the Westport Inn, but it will look nothing like its predecessor, thanks to the talents of internationally known, locally based designer Christian Siriano.

Delamar Hotels, developer of the boutique hotel at 1595 Post Road East, has partnered with Siriano, a celebrity interior and fashion designer, to “spearhead the interior design for three signature suites and the hotel’s lobby,” according to Delamar’s announcement.

The new hotel, expected to open late this year, will feature 86 guest rooms, a full-service restaurant, bar with outdoor dining and lounge areas, meeting spaces, private function rooms, a fitness facility and an indoor pool.

The project on a 3.8-acre Post Road East property won final approval from the Planning and Zoning Commission in February 2023. The approved design decreases the number of rooms from the 117 offered by the old Westport Inn, which had operated since the early 1960s before closing in late 2021.

The Delamar Hotels’ portfolio of properties includes the nearby Delamar Southport.

Siriano’s design work for the Delamar Westport should prove a convenient assignment. He is a Westport resident who in 2022 opened The Collective West, a retail showcase for his interior design and fashion brands at 940 Post Road East.

The three “Siriano Suites” at the new hotel will include a 3,000-square-foot presidential suite, and according to Delamar publicity, Siriano’s design for the lobby will blend “timeless elegance with modern allure to create a captivating ambiance that sets the stage for an extraordinary stay.”

In the statement announcing the partnership, Charles Mallory, founder of Delamar Hotels, cited Westport’s “enduring embrace of creative luminaries spanning generations, from celebrated actors like Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward and Bette Davis to literary giants like F. Scott Fitzgerald, and acclaimed artists such as William Glackens, it’s truly a privilege to collaborate with Christian Siriano, a rising star in today’s creative landscape.”

Siriano, in the statement, said, “I’m so excited to be the featured interior designer for the new Delamar Westport hotel.

“When the opportunity to design for the hotel presented itself it was an immediate ‘yes.’ Interior design is a passion of mine, so I can’t wait for the guests to see my vision for this fabulous hotel come to life,” he added.
