One of my favorite kinds of food is Japanese! If you’re craving some Japanese or sushi, you’re probably going to head to Sakura, Kaiseki, Slurpin’ Ramen Bar, Benja’s, or Kabuto! Now, I’m not a fan of Sushi, but I LOVE fried rice and teriyaki beef! It’s absolutely one of my favorite meals ever. I just tried one of these places for the first time ever…
KABUTO!
Kabuto is located at The Promenade at Red Cliffs next to Durango’s. This was the same place that used to be Samurai 21, in which Johnny Sakura turned Samurai 21 into what we now know as “Sakura”! This place has some amazing history of great Japanese food. This is my niece’s FAVORITE restaurant in town. She just graduated from Desert Hills High School and wanted some Kabuto! I went with her, my sister, her two small children, and my dad.
THE VIBES:
Walking into this place, they’ve done a great job of building the atmosphere. It doesn’t feel cheap or inauthentic. The restaurant is extremely modern looking, with plenty of seating, a sushi bar, and even TVs with sports on. The place was packed with patrons too. It was a little loud, but that’s just because it was full of people having dinner. They also had a great playlist of music playing low.
THE ORDERS:
I ordered the Teriyaki Beef with White Rice. The beef came hot laying in a little teriyaki sauce. I mixed some soy sauce in with the white rice, and that was good too! The beef was cut into long strips and tender and full of flavor. Absolutely delicious.
My sister ordered the chicken fried rice. It had chunks of grilled chicken mixed into a BIG bowl of fried rice with onions, green onions, egg, and vegetables. I tried it and was instantly angry that I didn’t order that too. This was some KILLER fried rice! I will absolutely be ordering it when I go back. It was awesome, and a massive bowl!
My niece and dad ordered sushi, which they loved and ate every last bit. But obviously, I can’t review that because I didn’t eat it. But, they’re BIG fans of the sushi at Kabuto!
THE PRICE:
The Teriyaki Beef & White Rice was about $18.99. I recently wrote about another Japanese place in town that I thought was a little too expensive for the portion size. But I felt like this price and portion size was right on.
HOURS:
Kabuto is open 7 days a week. On Monday – Saturday they’re open from 11:00 am – 9:30 am, and on Sunday they close an hour earlier from 11:00 am – 8:30 am.
