Gas prices haven’t been this low since February, AAA says

After dropping for more than two weeks straight, gas prices in Florida have hit their lowest point since last winter, according to the latest numbers from AAA.

The agency reported Monday that a gallon of gas in Florida costs on average a quarter less than it did 17 days ago, falling to $3.30 per gallon. That’s the lowest since February 18, AAA noted.

“Floridians and summer visitors will be pleasantly surprised when they go to fill up the gas tank this week,” AAA spokesperson Mark Jenkins said. “Gas prices are the lowest in several months because of weakness in the oil and gasoline futures markets.”

Unfortunately for drivers in south Florida, drivers will likely have to shell out a little more at the pump. All three of the most expensive cities come from the southernmost part of the state, AAA found.

At the top of the list is the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton area, where gas averages $3.52 per gallon, a dime more than the next most expensive city, Naples.

Head up to the Crestview-Fort Walton Beach region and gas prices drop to $3.08 per gallon, the lowest in Florida. Panama City and Pensacola slotted in as the next cheapest cities ($3.11 and $3.13, respectively).
