In a follow-up interview on a YouTube show, Min Hee Jin admits that she considered methods for acquiring ADOR, but never acted on them
Approximately a day after holding an urgent press conference on the afternoon of April 25 KST, CEO Min Hee Jin of ADOR took part in a follow-up interview on April 26 KST by appearing on the YouTube live show, ‘Kim Hyun Jung’s News Show‘.
During the follow-up interview, Min Hee Jin addressed issues which she was not able to address during the press conference. First, in response to her leaked KakaoTalk messages with another ADOR employee, Min Hee Jin commented, “The way they attacked me was, they publicized my private messages and took out all context. No matter what conversation you’re having, the context is very important. But the context behind why those conversations occurred and what I was feeling at the time were entirely left out.”
She then stressed, “I was reacting to the suggestions by going, ‘Is it possible? Or not?’. I don’t know if I’m committing a crime just by imagining certain scenarios.”
Next, Min Hee Jin was asked if she did, in fact, attempt to make contact with external investors to get ahold of more ADOR stocks. She answered, “No matter what I do, HYBE places a bit in my mouth. What can I do with a mere 18%? Even if I can bring in an outside investor, I need permission from HYBE. HYBE owns 80%, I own 18%, and the employees own 2%. Sure, I did draw up some possible scenarios. But I never acted upon them.”
Regarding potential plans to bring in investors from Singapore or Saudi Arabia as a part of the so-called “Project 1945“, Min Hee Jin claimed, “I am not an expert on these matters. I may be in a management position, but aren’t M&As and investments totally different areas? I sought various suggestions precisely because I am no expert. At times, I was serious, and at times, I was not so much, but they pieces together all kinds of conversations here and there to attack me. I don’t mean to point fingers, but their intentions seem impure.”
Why did Min Hee Jin accuse ILLIT of copying NewJeans? The producer replied, “I did not bring up the issue just because I think that I’m all that. The creative trends in the contemporary age requires that you take various sources from the past, and recreate something with your own, distinct flair… I noticed that the formula used was problematic, in terms of visuals and vibes. I felt that a line had been overstepped on, and so I spoke up about the issue.”
Min Hee Jin also discussed the criticism from fans, who demanded that she “leave NewJeans out of the trouble”. The producer said, “Everyone says that I should not talk about NewJeans, but how can I not? I’m not the one who calls myself ‘The mother of NewJeans’. It’s them. They told me, ‘Just imagine that you’re in a K-drama’. Through this experience, I became reassured that my relationship with the members of NewJeans is a warm one.”
Finally, Min Hee Jin responded to HYBE’s latest statement, emphasizing that “the claims made by Min Hee Jin during the press conference contained such little truth that it is nearly impossible to correct every single point.” Min Hee Jin remarked, “I also feel the same. It’s impossible to respond back and forth to every single matter. These issues need to be resolved from the inside. The reason they brought it out to the public like this, I think, is because they wanted to ruin me. They wanted to make it seem like people should not believe what I say, no matter what.”
She further added, “We’ve done enough. We took turns throwing punches and getting hit. It’s getting childish so let’s stop here. I do not wish to continue this battle in the eyes of the public. Why I have to be judged by the public jury when they do not know my circumstances? Only the parties involved know the truth.”
