Garten begins by halving cherry tomatoes and adding broccoli florets. She blanches the veggies quickly, then puts them on ice water to “shock” it. “You end up with broccoli that’s perfectly cooked, bright green. It really sets the color,” she explains.
She adds mustard, white wine, and other ingredients to a bowl, whisking it all together. She roasts the chicken and cuts it while it’s warm, but not completely cooled off. “Chicken salad’s so much better when the chicken’s warm,” she explains. “It really absorbs the sauce.”
Finally, she tosses it together with her hands and pours the sauce over it. “Oh, this looks very familiar!” she says, adding that her store had “huge vats of this.” It’s so bright and delicious, it’s no surprise that her customers loved it!
“Looks and sounds so good,” one person commented on the video. Someone else wrote, “That looks delicious.”

Others offered suggestions, like one person who recommended adding “sliced onion” to the chicken salad, and another who said they use “dill pickle relish” in all their salads.
Whether you put your own twist on it or make it exactly like Ina, you know it’s going to be good. After all, she’s the queen of fresh, easy dinners!
