Now, a new report from the rumor mill is paving the way for that “what took them so long moment” as Toyota is allegedly thinking about creating a hot GR SUV that people have been waiting for a very long time – or at least since the arrival of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 and the competing Ford Bronco Raptor. Alas, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators thinks now is the perfect time also to consider their next steps in the compact crossover sector.
Obviously, the red-carpet spotlight is on the best-selling Toyota RAV4, even in fantasy land. More precisely, Vince Burlapp (aka vburlapp on social media or burlappcar.com) is a prolific virtual artist who loves to dream of all the latest models across the wide-ranging automotive realm – and in recent weeks, he’s had a lot of thoughts regarding the looks of the hypothetical XA60 sixth-generation compact CUV from Toyota.
In fact, he has had enough CGI time on his expert hands to come up with no less than eight unofficial variations of the next iteration of RAV4. Obviously, that means the visions range from completely subtle digital takes that make the renderings feel like mere facelifts to more futuristic or even exotic ideas. They also focus both on the regular ICE-powered RAV4 along with potential new Hybrid versions and even models powered solely by electricity.
So, which is your favorite and why? By the way, Toyota introduced the current XA50 fifth generation RAV4 at the 2018 New York International Auto Show based on the modular TNGA-K architecture it shares with the Toyota Camry, Harrier/Venza, as well as the Lexus NZ. It received a thorough update for 2022, and in America, it sells from a starting MSRP of $28,675, while the RAV4 Hybrid kicks off at $31,275. Naturally, it faces stiff competition from the likes of Honda’s CR-V or the Chevrolet Equinox, but it holds well despite its age.
As such, it is no wonder that Toyota is not necessarily in a hurry to come up with a successor – unlike the parallel universes of vehicular CGI, which have developed a veritable obsession regarding the potential styling and features of the next-generation RAV4. So, what do you think – is the Japanese carmaker coming with a new iteration later this year for the 2025MY or not?
