Jam on Mumbai-Pune route as summer vacation ends & schools to reopen – Times of India
Long queues of vehicles were seen on Mumbai-Pune expressway and the old Pune highway on Friday night and Saturday, along the Khandala ghat section, as citizens headed home to either city after vacations and before schools reopen on Monday.
Highway patrol officials said a large number of small vehicles caused traffic congestion in Lonavla, Khandala and Bhor ghat sections in the afternoon.
To clear traffic, police initiated 10-minute blocks on the E-way, but the jam continued. Citizens had gone on vacation to hill stations of Lonvala, Khandala, Mahabaleshwar, Kolhapur to the Konkan, the police said.
