According to Mandy Moore and husband Taylor Goldsmith, they’re already in full summer mode after taking their two sons August ‘Gus’, three, and Oscar ‘Ozzie’, 20 months, from their home in Los Angeles up north to Carmel for a vacation.
On May 31, Moore shared on Instagram that they are expecting their third child – a daughter.
The couple took their boys to Carmel Valley Ranch, a 500-acre, 180-suite luxury resort located a few miles from downtown.
The This Is Us alum decided to document their time in Northern California with a series of photos she shared on her Instagram page on Sunday.
‘Clearly no fun was had at all on our first summer trip up north to stay at @carmelvranch,’ the actress and singer joked, before adding, ‘I saw @whatsgabycookin stayed there a few months ago and she called it the mecca for families and she wasn’t wrong.’
Moore, 40, went on to gush over the the fun time they all had together.
‘I love that kids and families aren’t simply accepted but celebrated here. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed at a hotel that went this far to welcome kids and make them feel at home (the corral of animals to visit, the milk and cookies at bedtime and the nightly roast your own s’mores kits (a first for our dudes).’
She added, ‘All of that to say, it’s also an excellent choice without your family too (@taylordawesgoldsmith and I are planning to come back solo one of these days).
Sounding more then fulfilled with their experience, Moore thanked the establishment ‘for taking such great care of us, @carmelvranch- we will be back!!’
‘Best trip up north to @carmelvranch with these sweet boys,’ she said of their experience at the establishment in another photo showing Moore looking rested and styling in a black ensemble while watching her sons interact with all the animals.
‘They have a corral with goats, sheep, lamas, mini donkeys and cows,’ the New Hampshire native revealed. ‘We even got to watch when one of the goats got milked. The boys were in heaven.’
Their time in northern country also included an afternoon at a local aquarium, that was another big hit with the boys.
It turns out the couple were inspired to go to the resort because they have some friends who now live in the area.
‘Nothing like a visit with old friends who moved up here… especially when they happen to be the queens of the most delicious spreads of all time,’ Moore shared. ‘An early evening foggy beach hang was perfect. We [love] you @boosimms and @lafemmeepicure.’
The many different events like interacting with the many different animal exhibits in and around the resort such as goats, sheep, lamas, mini donkeys and cows.
There was even a moment when Goldsmith, who’s the Dawes frontman , tried to make the wild turkeys gobble.
One of the big highlights for the boys was the visit to the firehouse station in Carmel, where they got to sit in the driver’s seat of one of the trucks.
‘And thank you endlessly to the kind firefighters of the Carmel-By-The-Sea station for treating these dudes to the greatest thrill of their lives,’ she wrote in the caption of one photo.
The cool down for both the parents and kids was when they all jumped into the pool for some relaxing time.
Ozzie and Gus even got to taste their very first s’mores during their time at the resort. And like most kids, they appeared to wear nearly as much as they ate.
Activities also included the family going to the beach and learning about life in the oceans with a trip to the local aquarium.
The couple started dating in 2015 after first meeting on Instagram, which ultimately led to them getting married on November 2018.
Within all the family fun and activities, Moore share how she was listening to new music from Winnetka Bowling League while driving. The singer just happens to be Matthew Koma, the husband of actress and singer Hilary Duff.
Moore and Goldsmith are vowing to return to the resort, only next time they’re thinking of coming without the kids to be able to spend some quiet time alone.
