Gray may be most commonly associated with the ’80s, but we are inclined to say that the color is back and better than ever. Whether used as a neutral base in a dopamine decor space or as a kitchen backsplash, gray can be a timeless yet trendy choice for the home.
Need proof? Look no further than Miranda Lambert’s porch. The country singer’s outdoor space is decked out with wood and twinkle lights, but our eyes were immediately drawn to her gray, painted floorboards, which beautifully contrast the more natural details.
According to experts, flooring can actually be a huge factor in a home’s curb value; as such, it’s an important element to consider when designing the interior (or exterior) of a house.
‘Beautiful and durable flooring is a massive selling point, says Neel Bradham, CEO at global flooring brand Parador. ‘While hardwood was historically favored, the biggest drawback is its inability to withstand moisture – making it less than ideal for high-traffic family homes.’

‘Painting a front porch a greige can instantly modernize a space that may have older roots,’ she explains. ‘It’s important to select a shade of gray that ties together the interior with the exterior, and creates a seamless transition between the two.’
