Motorcycles take over Baldwin for 52nd Blessing of the Bikes

The unmistakable rumble of motorcycles could be heard along the M-37 corridor this weekend as thousands attended the 52nd Blessing of the Bikes.

BALDWIN, Mich. — With near-perfect riding weather this weekend, thousands of motorcyclists attended the 52nd Annual Blessing of the Bikes.

The event began as a gathering at a church in the 1970s and has since evolved into a large event that sets the tone for a safe summer ahead.

Bikers and community members alike packed the Municipal Airport field in Baldwin Sunday afternoon.

It’s one of the region’s largest gatherings of motorcycles, and something riders look forward to each year.

Those who attended were met with vendors, food, music and more.

“In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit….now start your engines, and go in peace,” a pastor said before the crowd cheered.

The roar and rumble of thousands of motorcycles could be heard starting up and heading toward the highway.

13 ON YOUR SIDE Chief Meteorologist George Lessens was also in attendance Sunday as part of his farewell tour.
