Portland’s NBC affiliate station, KGW-TV, has announced some changes to the anchor team lineups for its weekday morning and evening news shows. As of Monday, June 17, Chynna Greene will join Drew Carney to co-anchor “KGW News at Sunrise,” along with meteorologist Rod Hill, and traffic anchor Chris McGinness.
Christine Pitawanich, who has been an anchor on the weekday morning news broadcast since 2022, is moving from that early show to the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. weeknight news. She will join anchor David Molko, and meteorologist Matt Zaffino. Pitawanich will also anchor “The Good Stuff,” which airs at 7 p.m.
Pitawanich grew up in the Seattle area, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington, and a master’s degree from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in New York.

After working at KOBI in Medford, Pitawanich joined KGW in 2015 as a general assignment reporter. She won an Edward R. Murrow award for her work on the KGW documentary, “Overwhelmed: Inside Oregon’s ICUs”.
As co-anchor with Molko on the early evening newscasts, Pitawanich is filling a position that has been vacant since longtime anchor Laural Porter announced earlier this year that she was stepping away from regular evening news anchor duties, and instead focusing on hosting the KGW public affairs program, “Straight Talk,” in “this important political year.”
Greene joined KGW in 2023, and worked as a morning anchor and reporter at Fox 13 in Seattle before moving to Portland. She was born and raised in Las Vegas, according to the KGW website. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, worked at WVLT in Knoxville, Tennessee, and in 2018, came to the Northwest to join KEZI, in Eugene, as an evening anchor.
