Vincenzo Loverso: A Culinary Visionary Transforming San Diego’s Dining Landscape

Vincenzo Loverso, founder and culinary visionary, has long been at the forefront of pushing San Diego’s culinary boundaries. In 1992 the Palermo native arrived to San Diego where he found himself enchanted by the climate and envisioned a new culinary venture.

Teaming up with a new partner, they took a leap of faith, selecting Downtown San Diego despite its reputation as a Red Light District and a less-than-ideal culinary destination.

Undeterred, in June of the same year, he unveiled Osteria Panevino, a testament to his Italian heritage, where he meticulously crafted fresh pasta and curated dishes showcasing the finest ingredients.

The restaurant quickly became a beloved fixture in the community, still earning accolades as the premier destination for Italian cuisine and family dining in California. Since inaugurating Gaslamp’s first restaurant, Osteria Panevino, he has helped build San Diego’s downtown dining scene into what it is today.
