FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Speeding and street racing were a big topic at Monday night’s Fargo City Commission meeting.
David Zibolski, Fargo’s Chief of Police, pitched a number of ideas to help fix the problem, including raising fines for racing. However, city leaders said most of the potential fixes would need state legislative action.
Commissioners did vote to reduce the speed limit on 52nd Ave S. between I-29 and Sheyenne from 45 mph to 40 mph. That was one of the corridors where authorities say they’ve seen the most racing.
The measure passed 4-1 with only Commission Dave Piepkorn voting against.
