Slovakian firm Engler has decided to one-up its crazy V10-powered quad with a new creation
Published: 10 Jun 2024
A few years back, Slovakian company Engler unveiled the Desat. Calling itself the world’s first ‘super quad’, the Desat was a quad bike with the headlights – and the 5.2-litre V10 – from an Audi R8. Bonkers.
Although apparently, that wasn’t quite bonkers enough for some, because Engler has now unveiled its latest creation: a twin-turbo V12-engined quad bike.

Inventively named the Engler V12, we’re promised this thing will have 1,200PS (1,184bhp) and 1,200Nm of torque (885lb ft), plus a 1,200kg kerbweight to match. And yes, you do straddle it and steer with handlebars like a normal quad bike. In fact, because its free from pedals Engler says that its creation is accessible for wheelchair users. Not sure where you’d store the wheelchair, mind.
Anyway, company boss Viktor Engler won’t let slip where the 12-cylinder engine has been sourced from just yet, but we’re told the engine (which will also be available in naturally-aspirated form with between 700 and 800bhp), the BMW motorcycle handlebars, the Brembo carbon ceramic brakes and the Michelin tyres are the only bits that aren’t built by Engler itself or provided as unique parts by certain suppliers. Admirable, although we’re not sure that off-the-shelf parts would even work on such a creation.
Engler is particularly proud of its in-house eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, which can apparently cope with this much power and torque despite only weighing 30kg. It also mentions a titanium exhaust, 20in forged magnesium wheels and new LED headlights. The seats (yep, it’s a two seater) are apparently crafted by Swedish firm Art in Motion, with the leather the same as that used for Hermès bags.
There are two touchscreens up ahead of the rider/driver, with one used for vehicle data and the other for Apple CarPlay. Worried about using a touchscreen while piloting a 1,200bhp quad? “This layout may be reevaluated for serial production,” says Engler. “At Engler, we understand the discomfort and safety concerns associated with using touchscreens on the road. Our paramount concern is to ensure the driver’s focus remains on the road.” Might be wise, that.

What else do you need to know? The actual chassis is a carbon monocoque while the tubular front and rear subframes are made from titanium. There’s a tiny little height-adjustable windshield too, plus active aero flaps that are apparently positioned around the quad. The suspension elements are 3D printed from titanium and the shocks are Engler’s own design.
The company reckons it can produce 10 vehicles per year in its current capacity, and Viktor told TG at the V12’s public debut at Top Marques in Monaco that he currently has five pre-orders. Oh, and on the subject of money, the V12 continues the ones and twos theme with a list price of €1.2m.
In more ways than one, we hope you’re feeling brave.
