Lulu Lytle, the interior designer whose firm supplied Boris Johnson’s “gold” wallpaper, has been made an OBE in the King’s birthday honours list for her services to manufacturing and craftsmanship.
The founder and creative director of Soane Britain, which makes luxury furniture, fabrics, wallpaper and lighting, became embroiled in “wallpapergate” when it emerged that Johnson, then prime minister, and his wife, Carrie, spent a reported £2,260 on wallpaper from the firm.
Lytle founded Soane at the age of 25 and developed it into one of the most covetable interior design brands, working with clients including the late Lee Radziwill, the sister of Jackie Kennedy, and Aerin Lauder, an American billionaire heiress.
